Tim Amey – Shodan

Sensei for
Northwest Budokan
Master Kise’s Pacific Northwest Dojo.
Tim started his Martial Arts training, while attending
College at California State University Fresno, practicing Shotokan from
1985-1988 at the West Fresno Shotokan Karate Academy in Fresno California
earning the rank of 6th Kyu.
After College, Tim spent 14 years in the Military (U.S.
Army) as a Senior Operations Officer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Prime
Power Battalion (WHCA). His responsibilities included Communications Service
Support as well as Prime Power Support for various Government Agencies in cases
of National Disasters, and Capacity Planning. During this time, Tim practiced
mixed martial arts (both formally and informally) with various representatives
of different National Combat Organizations.
From October, 2004-April, 2005, Tim practiced and
studied Kobyashi Shorin-ryu under Sensei’s Domingo Llanos (5th Dan)
and Michael Pulsinelli (3rd Dan) at the Riegelsville Karate-Do
Martial Arts Training School in Riegelsville, WA earning the rank of orange
belt.
In June 2005, Tim and his family moved to Washington
State where he began to study and practice at the NW Budokan Dojo in Everett,
WA, earning the rank of Shodan (karate, tuite, and kubodo) in June 2006.
Tim is a Senior Engineer for a locally based IT/
Telecommunications Company. His background includes teaching both children and
adults throughout the world, as well as receiving training by some of the best
in his field, both karate and Engineering related.
Tim and his wife, Lymaris, have three children who
practice Shorin-ryu with him and are his best teachers. He teaches sparring,
Katas (forms), tuite (join locks) and weapons.
